Craig Whitaker is a Philadelphia/South Jersey based Director with over a decade of proven industry experience. Craig began his career at Apple, as an instructor for professional video and post-production software. After Apple, Craig joined Dive/Shooters in Philadelphia as a Visual Effects artist, working on feature films such as Let Me In, I Am Number Four, After Earth and Safe.
In 2012, Craig left Dive/Shooters to join Assembly as their Digital Design Director; tasked with launching, developing and managing a motion graphics/VFX department, working directly with agencies, healthcare companies, non-profits and direct to client to create and produce beautiful visual stories. During his time at Assembly, Craig also directed, shot, edited and produced many projects for clients such as 20Nine, Penn Medicine, Fiore and One Trick Pony.
Whitaker is an adjunct professor at Drexel University, teaching a wide variety of classes on topics such as: Professional Practices, CGI/3D, and Visual Effects. He is also an author for Lynda Dot Com, developing and delivering courses on Visual Effects and CG. Prior to joining Drexel, Craig was an instructor at The Art Institute and Wilmington University. He creates training content for Maxon and has presented his work as a speaker at NAB.
In 2017, Craig joined The Department of Homeland Security - Science & Technology Directorate as Creative Director, more than doubling their video output and developing many campaigns for a wide variety of federal government agencies and their partners. Craig’s focus on “feelings before facts” has been a huge success for the directorate and he is excited to grow the team and their portfolio of work.
He is also an accomplished singer/songwriter and his music has been featured on NBC’s Emmy-Award winning show “ER.” Craig has performed with a wide range of groups such as Matchbox 20, members of the Grateful Dead, Sugar Ray, Gavin DeGraw and many others. In late 2019, he wrote and recorded his first solo EP, produced by Jim Riley (drummer/bandleader Rascal Flatts)
When he's not working, you can find him training for his next Ironman triathlon as a Zoot Sports athlete, or driving his boys to practices.
